Day 55. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Socially Grounded.

This entry is a bit late. let me explain the week:
monday was normal.
Tuesday we only had 4 classes and it was doener day with Sebastian, Fredi, Ziena, and Agneta. the english word for Doener is Kebab but its not really a kebab. from wikipedia: "Döner kebab, literally "rotating kebab" in Turkish, is sliced lamb, beef or chicken, slowly roasted on a vertical rotating spit. The Middle Eastern shawarma, Mexican tacos al pastor and Greek gyros are all derived from the Turkish döner kebab which was invented in Bursa in the 19th century by a cook named Hacı İskender.[22] Döner kebab is most popularly served in pita bread, as it is best known, with salad, but is also served in a dish with a salad and bread or French fries on the side," It was pretty good. and i had french fries with it then we went and got icecream... walking home i thought i was going to puke from eating so much and it was all up hill which made it worse.
Wednesday Andreas and Peggy left for their vacation and us kids were left home... that means pizza for lunch and fend for yourself for dinner. I made a nice American style Grilled cheese and it was fantastic.
thursday was ughh. we were supposed to go to grandma and grandpas for lunch.... i ended up having 4 classes and went home and was supposed to walk back to school to meet laura to walk there. well she said 13 o'clock and when people say that i think 3 o'clock for some reason so i wasnt paying attention to the time and at 12:50 i realized i was supposed to meet her and i walked as fast as i could to meet her. by the time i got there she had left. she called my cell phone twice but i was walking and didnt feel it vibrate. so then toby had to come and pick me up and im pretty sure he was extremely mad considering the only thing he said to me was where were you. but we went to grandmas and ate then i went home, had a german lesson, then it was fend for yourself again and i just ate the normal food.
friday was pretty normal went to school had afternoon german lesson at school then had another german lesson at home. then a started packing... the packing continued into saturday.
Saturday i packed and after peggy and andreas got back i moved into my new family. i wouldn't have made it without andreas and my new host dad Gregor. they had to carry my huge bag for me ... and my new bedroom is on the 3rd floor! i spent the rest of the night unpacking and then watching tv with the family. There is Christel and Gregor and they have their own Pharmacy that they both work at and then there are 2 kids - Julie (15) and Maurice (12)... there is also an older girl named Joanna but she is in Bolivia. now the reason for the title... they did not remember the password for the internet and i did not figure it out until tuesday, when they spoke with joanna on skype. i could get on their laptop but only when they typed in the password for me and it was really slow so....
sunday i went to the Inbound Welcome. Peggy drove me to meet 3 other exchange students that live nearby and we went together to the Welcome. there everyone introduced themselves, saying their name, age, country, and hosting rotary club.  then we sat and listened to the rules and everything... they had some Rebounds (people who have already been on an exchange and are back now) there who translated the german into english, spanish, and Portuguese. the girl who translated the english couldnt speak over the spanish and portuguese groups (they are EXTREMELY loud) so i was reading her lips the whole time and saying it over again for Aina the japanese girl that is from the montabaur rotary club too. then we took some photos and had like 10 minutes to exchange pins (every time we tried to do that they told us not right now you will have time later... 10 minutes?!) then sat down and listened to more about how to RSVP to the events we have to go to.  then peggy came to take us all home. i got home and was all alone... with no internet ... without knowing how to work the TV... for 5 hours... so i slept for like 3 and then watched some tv on the tv in my room when i figured out that the strip cord wasn't turned on. when everyone else got home i watched tv with them and got on the computer for a little.
monday started out ughhh... the dumb alarm clock is insane and doesnt ever work right so i woke up at 6:30 without an alarm clock. so i got ready for school and went with the kids and they showed me a different way to go and i think its shorter than the way i used to go. i had long classes so i went to the kiosk for lunch... i was in the beginning of the line and saw that there was chicken wings and i got so excited... the 2nd person in front of me bought the last of them! so i bought 2 donuts for lunch... it was the only other thing i knew the name of lol.  then we had a double math class and they were taking a test... i left early because i had to go get my visa... so i went with andreas and we actually got through the whole process this time... i even got my fingerprints scanned.  then i went back home and watched tv and didnt get on the computer until like 8 ... john was home sick and i had like 17 emails from him.
tuesday i got up late again because of the dumb alarm. the snooze button doesnt work so i just turn it off and fall back to sleep. so i went to school went to yummy for lunch and then we had geography double period. the bell rang for class to start and 15 minutes later the teacher still wasnt there so someone went to find out what was going on... turns out we were in another room and no one remembered so we all went to the room we were supposed to be in and listened to her yell at us in german for another 15 minutes and then she said the next time we have another double period we have to come 15 minutes early! i really dont think that we missed that much considering she wasted another 15 minutes yelling at us about it... maybe she should have just stopped talking and moved on with the lesson...   but then i went home and watched tv with maurice until he left for what ever sport he had that day.
wednesday - today.. went to school ... had german cheese cake for the first time in french class... people are always bringing goodies to french class i love it i dont do any work (except my german workbook) and i get sweets all the time. came home and had German Golosh for the first time... all it is is meat chunks and soup opposed to our family's golosh elbow macaroni and hamburger and tomato juice/soup (which i cover in ketchup) then i started this blog entry which has been interrupped by watching several shows on the german Disney channel such as zack and cody on board and hannah montana along with 5 minutes of Cricket which is also a First.

the whole not having internet thing wouldnt have been so bad if i had something else to do... i mean anything i needed to translate i couldnt... when i was home alone i had nothing to do and it was rainy and cold the whole time. i was just extremely bored and had nothing else to think about. i couldnt get on facebook and play slots or write my blog or window shop online. i definately need to find something to do outside of the internet though... something that is flexible and doesnt have a set date and time something i can do when i want to do it. hmmmmmm... what to do....

until then enjoy the very limited pictures of the week...
