Day 11. Tuesday, August 9,2011.

Ok so as you can see i got a little behind on my blog. Instead of going into major detail i may skip a few things here and there

i got up at the same time and got my shower and had to borrow laura's straightener again. got everything ready, and took a nutella sandwich to school (which i ate half of on my way to school). today school started with english. ok so we continue talking about sleep and blah blah blah and read some thing, which i was done with before she had even told us to read it.  then we had to come up with reasons why and why not school should start at 9 instead of 8 and had a little debate and then we were assigned to do that for homework ... our next class was thrusday so of course i did it wednesday night right before i went to bed. our next class was music.. i have not had music since 8th grade so i dont remember anything. clara and i sat in the back then she asked us to move to the front and while i was walking by her desk she was looking at me and saying something and i kinda walked a little faster and said in a half laugh half cry "i dont know what shes saying" ... the class found that kinda funny and everyone laughed.  i think this was the class where it really hit me that this whole going to school thing is going to be a lot harder than i thought. we had to stand up and sing and then we werent loud enough and blah blah blah.  the next class was physics. the first half of the class i didnt know what they were talking about so i just sat there and thought about how hard it is going to be. i dont understand anything and all of these kids do. they have had the same classes (biology french english german physics mathe art music geography social studies chemistry history religion) for like 4 or 5 years. how am i supposed to even know half of what they have learned? in america you have 1 science class a year not 3 ... ive never had chemistry before and they are at a higher level than what i would be if i had had it in america. i just wanted to cry. but then i tried to focus on what the teacher was talking about and then i finally figured it out. it was how an engine works.... the gas goes into the what ever then gets pumped this way and mixes with air then goes to the cylinder and the thing moves and condenses the gas/air mixture and causes a small explosion with makes the axle move. yay i figured it out. (again couldnt have done it without clara she is definitely the only way i am surviving right now) then we went to math. the math teacher is the teacher taking us on the sailing trip so we talked about that almost the whole time. then we started talking about math. all i was understanding was that he had a cube in his hand and kept talking about it the whole time and pointing at it. by the end of the class i figured out they were talking about probability and that our homework was to dump a bunch of thumbtacks on the table and count how many were on the head and on the side... i googled it. next was art ( a double period) ... this was the class i liked the most ... the teacher spoke english to me and told me that i can do pretty much what ever i wanted in the class since i wasnt getting a grade. so she talked and explained that we are doing a self portrait with out our face in it (so using objects to show ourselves). so i started off with a backpack with a movie and my exchange student book in it and my german/usa flag pin on it and a key chain on the zipper that looks like my promise ring from john.  so after art we would usually get to go home but it was an extended day so we had a 40 minute break and then a double period of geography.  so peggy had to go with toby to the university that he got accepted into to do paperwork or something so laura and i had to get lunch at school... some of the kids in my class invited me to go with them to a place that used to be subway but is now emm... yummy or something like that (still like subway)... i got up to the counter and told her i wanted turkey on white bread and i guess she thought i said teriyaki and so its a good thing that sebastian  (a kid from my class who i later found out used to live in Virginia) asked me if i was a vegitarian and why there wasnt any meat on my sandwich (they heat the teriyaki) so we got that figured out then i was trying to ask for mayo and i said it funny and the lady just looked at me like i was an idiot. then i paid and finally got to sit down and eat. then after lunch we had to go back to school (we only had 10 minutes to get back ) and we were like 30 seconds late, but there were people who were at the same place that were later than we were. but then we had 2 hours of geography... in english. we talked about globalization the whole time. all i kept noticing was how many times this lady messed up her english, but i didnt want to say anything because i didnt want to be the know it all american exchange student... but sometimes she didnt speak any better english than some of the kids in the class.  but finally after it was over we got to go home (laura had to stay late for a class too) we got home and not too long after peggy and toby were home. they asked me bout school but i didnt say much it was a kinda stressful day.

i think my favorite time of the day was lunch i got to talk to some people and hang out with them a little bit.. it really helped me out and made me look forward to the sailing trip a lot more.
