Day 7. Friday, August 5, 2011.

today marked the end of my first week in germany.

the day started out at 8 a.m. (ughhhh) with a shower and a banana for breakfast. then my teacher and another exchange student came here for our first german lesson.  I dont even want to go into detail because uggghhhh... but i will anyway. He started out with basic phrases and worked into easier stuff. like the letters and then instead of saying the letters we each had to go through the alphabet saying the sound each letter makes. (so instead of saying "Dee" you said "Duh") so for me i was like Oh My God this guy is talking to me and treating me like i am 5. But i went along with it and agreed with what ever he said because the other exchange student was from Japan and may have needed to learn some of this ... but i think she felt the same way at some times, especially when he made us count to 100 taking turns saying a number. But anyway... the next lesson was supposed to be at the other girl's house but its 20 minutes, then peggy would have to sit there for an hour and a half then another 20 minutes home and she cant do that 2 times a week (she works 3 days a week as a secretary at Andreas's own Financial Management company).  so now the lessons will be separately... so maybe we can skip all the kindergarden things and move on to first grade.

so after the german lesson we went to the store. this time we went to a store similar to walmart and bought a ton of food (i got some Haribo Gummy Bears).  on the way to another store it started to rain. the raindrops were huge. it sounded like the car was getting pelted by gulf balls. then five minutes later it was done. then we went to the deli (which is owned by a family that has a rotary club member in it) and we tried to figure out what american bologna was in germany... it didnt work out we still havnt found it lol. then we went and picked up Alex, Laura's boyfriend, then went home. After putting the Groceries away, Peggy and I continued our Skip bo game. after we played 2 hands, and we each won one again, Toby and his girlfriend Franziska and I all played a hand.

a little while later we all ate dinner outside. There were sausages, steaks, shrimp, and lamb, with potatoes and grilled vegitables. I only had shrimp and a sausage and a few pieces of bread.  I noticed that when drinking beer, germans will sometimes mix it with sprite... so if you want to feel german, drink half beer half sprite (pour beer first).

After dinner, Laura, Alex, and I went to Kirmes (the fair). It was pretty much like our fair except everyone was drunk.  they had a band down town (where i took a picture earlier this week) and there were rides and games in another place. the one ride i got on with laura is called the Break Dance. It is a spinning ride and ive never been on a similar ride that is that extreme. its like all other spinning rides on steroids. it cost 2.50 euros to ride it once though. the whole time we were on the ride Laura was screaming Oh My God and i was just laughing.  then when it was over, before we even stopped spinning there were people running on the platform and trying to get in our car... i was trying to get out and this other girl is climbing in on top of me!  we spent about 4 hours at Kirmes. We got to see a fight... two drunk guys. then Laura introduced me to some kids from England that speak English!!! so now if i ever need a break from the german i know people who i can talk to. Then we went up to the music area again and talked to Andreas and Peggy and Alex's parents and went home around 1.

When we got home i talked to john and we used skype to webcam. it went a lot better this time... then he had to go and play Guild Wars with Zack (i am rolling my eyes right now just so everyone knows), and so i went to bed.
